Writing Prompt #25
Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! I hope you are having a lucky day, and that you've found a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow somewhere.
What better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day than to write a limerick?
Not sure what the rules of a limerick are? Here are the basics:
Five lines
Humorous
First, second, and fifth lines must rhyme
First, second, and fifth lines must have seven to ten syllables
Third and fourth lines must rhyme
Third and fourth lines must have five to seven syllables
There are some more rules with rhythms, but the above are the starting rules of limericks.
Here is a classic example. You may have heard it before:
Hickory dickory dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
And down he run.
Hickory dickory dock.
Good luck, and have fun!
